Can Close Friends See Who Else Is on the List?

Updated 2026-10-15 · ClosePush Team

No. Your Close Friends list is private: only you can see who is on it. People on the list only know they are on it when they see one of your green Close Friends stories. They cannot see how many people are on the list or who they are.

What people on your list can see

• The green ring around your profile picture when you post a Close Friends story.
• The green "Close Friends" label at the top of that story.
• Close Friends posts, reels or notes you share with the list.

What they can't see

• The other people on your list.
• The size of your list.
• When you added or removed them.
• Whether they were removed (they just stop seeing green stories).

Can viewers see each other in a story?

No. As with any story, only you (the author) see the viewer list. Viewers can't see who else watched.

Privacy tip for creators

Because the list is private, you can add your whole audience without anyone seeing who is in it. Many creators do exactly that to give every key story the green ring. ClosePush automates it.

FAQ

Can someone check whose Close Friends list they are on?

Only by seeing green stories from that account. There is no list or setting that shows it.

Do "Close Friends checker" apps work?

No. Instagram does not share this data with any app. Never give your password to an app that claims to show it.
